SUMMARY:AI For Climate
DESCRIPTION:Ceren Zeytinoğlu Atıcı\, Project Lead of the Global AI Alliance for Climate Action\, a joint initiative of the Toronto-based AI research institute Vector Institute and the Turkish Informatics Foundation\, will discuss the opportunities artificial intelligence offers in addressing the climate crisis. \nCeren will explore how AI models can be translated into practical climate solutions in areas such as improving energy efficiency\, predicting disasters\, and protecting biodiversity. \nThe talk will also highlight Ceren’s work with Pale Blue AI\, which she co-founded in Canada\, and Clean AI\, exploring new approaches at the intersection of artificial intelligence\, climate\, and social impact. \nCeren graduated from SEV in 2007 and İzmir American Collegiate Institute in 2011. She completed her undergraduate studies at City University London and her master’s degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. From 2014 to 2016\, she worked as a Senior Researcher at TESEV. \nIn 2018\, she founded Başlangıç Noktası (Be Node) and KonuŞu\, and continues to co-lead both organizations. She completed the MIT Technology Leadership Program between 2021 and 2022 and has served as a board member of the Turkish Informatics Foundation since 2023. \nIn 2023\, she established the Global AI Alliance for Climate Action platform through a partnership between Başlangıç Noktası and the Vector Institute. Through this platform\, she brings together climate experts and AI researchers to advance the development of practical climate solutions. \nShe has also produced Likeminded\, a six-part documentary series exploring the power of digital social networks to drive change. She advises companies and organizations on digital transformation and the development of impact-driven projects. In 2025\, Ceren founded the Toronto-based film production company Ravine Films. She is the producer of Happy Birthday\, Kızım\, which was filmed in Canada. In 2026\, she launched Pale Blue AI\, a non-profit organization based in Toronto.
